Description

IC 1848 (also known as the Soul Nebula or Embryo Nebula) is a diffuse nebula associated with an open star cluster, visible in the constellation of Cassiopeia. This is one of the areas where star formation is most active. It's in fact a very large HII region, whose distance is estimated at 7600 light years from us.
This image was obtained by integrating and processing according to the Hubble Palette technique: in the photo the hydrogen, sulfur and oxygen gases are clearly visible and contrasted, which would not be so well discriminated with other techniques.
Collaboration with my friend Michele Russo.
